A350-1000 vs B777X-9

777X

The 777X is the latest addition to the 777 family and it is also the most technologically advanced Boeing with tech from the 787 Dreamliner. It features Boeing latest incarnation of the Sky interior with electrochromic windows, Wi–Fi, crew rest facilities including bunk beds and a bar. In a 2-class configuration the 777X-9 can carry 450 Passengers with economy and business class. It replaces the B777-300ER. The B777X-8 can carry 400 people in the same configuration and it replaces the B777- 200LR.

The B777X-9

A350-1000

The A350-1000 is the closest rival to the 777X in terms of capacity, costs and efficiency. It is the latest of the latest generation of aircraft with digital airport charts, maps, checklists, and it is the first time a plane has artificial inteligience! The A350-900 can carry 324 passengers in a 3 class layout with first, business and economy class. The ULR version (Ultra Long Range) can carry 186 passengers in a two class layout with business and premium economy class. The A350-1000 can carry 366 passengers in the -900’s layout. The A350 has a lower seat cost per mile than the 777X.

The A350-1000

My Verdict

I think that the A350 is the better plane here with lower costs and more cargo capability on the passenger version although Boeing might introduce a 7777XF (F stands for Freighter).I think both planes have introduced new technology including the folding wing tips on the 777X. Airbus are currently making an A350-1000 ULR which will carry 220 passengers and Boeing is designing a 777X-10 which could replace the 747-400’s and -8’s in airlines fleets as well as the A380-800.
